Recently, we partnered with a polymer process technology company to tackle a familiar challenge: predicting L*a*b* color indices in real time, despite the complex influence of additives, residual catalysts, and microstructural variability.
Our approach combined:
→ A first-principles model continuously recalibrated to actual feedstock and operating conditions
→ Machine learning–based error correction to bridge the gap between simulation and plant reality
→ AI-driven soft sensors for real-time prediction of color indices
The result: a shift from reactive, lab-based quality checks to proactive, in-process control.
